At #Redux2024 the conversation has been about creating communities.

Speaking of which...I'm planning a Pride webinar for librarians with speakers from publisher LGBTQ+ staff networks/groups.

I've a few thoughts on who I'm going to approach, but if you've suggestions lmk.

I'm looking for details on an online talk I went to a while back and am hoping the hive mind can help.

It was a panel & as part of it there was a talk by a Māori librarian about increasing number of Māori & Pacific Islander librarians - talked about word of mouth.

I have to spend today reading through the copy edited version of my book to check I'm happy with it. This doesn't play to a single one of my strengths.

The CILIP LGBTQ+ Network AGM is fast approaching, and while we'll have to do the usual reporting stuff, the bit I'm looking forward to is a talk by Mary Burgess on 'A history of LGBTQ+ groups in Cambridgeshire'.

When writing alt text, focus on what's truly important. In an image with text about a canceled event, don't spend a lot of time describing the borders of the image. A decorative border is not nearly as important as the actual message.

Got up at 5am, paid nearly £400 for a weekly train ticket, stood at a bus stop in the rain and realised I'd forgotten my coffee.

We were talking at #UKSG2024 breakfast this week about D&D alignment, and about how I categorise myself irl as Chaotic Neutral. This chart (from bookstr) made me laugh 😂

#UKSG2024 has been wonderful yet again. From the excellent ChronosHub day (super nice to meet all those folks) through to invigorating breakouts & a great response to our plenary.

Accrued several more invites & leaving feeling exhausted but positive.

COUNTER depends very much on volunteers and needs continued financial support to maintain and deliver service - call to us all to enable this. The work they and other community services need investment as well as the 'shiny new stuff' COUNTER Metrics #UKSG2024

I really hate articles about Sci-Hub which fail to mention anything about wider open access & give the impression that all papers are behind a paywall - obvs far from the truth.

I suspect that many of the articles people access through the site are available through green OA.
