I use X to teach common sense and the basics on economics. The new YouTube channel will be used for that as well. The basics on economics and common sense need to be taught in South Africa. Very important that we do that, the country is collapsing.

“We need 400 years.” 400 years for what? Singapore rose from poverty to riches in just a few decades. When you are incompetent and clueless on governance for prosperity, you’ll ask for 400 years. Even in that 400 years you’ll achieve nothing ‘cause you are incompetent.

I’m often told that I’m controversial. Not at all. All I’ve done today is preach the power of markets, urged Africans to look in the mirror they’ll see the problem that has suppressed Africa’s potential. That’s not controversial.

If you haven’t bought and read Johan Norberg’s book The Capitalist Manifesto, please do. I bought it last year in London. In the book, Johan defends global capitalism, argues for stronger global capitalism, and he does these brilliantly. It’s an enjoyable, fast read. Even…

The poorest provinces in South Africa are Eastern Cape and Limpopo. Their citizens have been voting for the same party since our democracy began in 1994. Will people of Eastern Cape and Limpopo vote for a different party this month? Clearly the ANC has failed them. Big question.

It wasn’t welfare, regulations, high tax rates that propelled Western nations to riches and global dominance, I write in my book “Lessons from Past Heroes”. It was work, innovation, capitalism. Lessons for Africa!

Get yourself a copy of my book at a bookstore near you.

South Africa is a society that lacks common sense. My mission is to bring back common sense, in a country that has huge potential. Markets, hard work, personal responsibility, family, stronger law and order. This is what common sense is - not the foreign, unAfrican communist and…

I wrote in my recent column that Africa's problems won't be solved by foreign aid, or by foreign institutions and governments. It's us Africans who will solve our problems. Sorry, President Joe Biden can't help us.

South African political parties are promoting welfare ahead of the election. Surprised? Don’t be. Welfare is a way of buying votes. Promise people “free” money to get their vote. As economist Tom Sowell once said: “The welfare state is the oldest con game in the world.”

What South Africa needs is a stronger, competitive energy market that will weaken Eskom. Not long ago, economist Kevin Lings said that Eskom will be one of the many suppliers of energy in the market. If that really happens, it will be good for South Africa.

Billions and billions of taxpayers' money have been spent on the failing Eskom over the years. The consequences of incompetence and corruption and socialist mentality.

South Africa deserves better.

Marriages are on the decline in South Africa and other parts of the world and that's not good for societies. Maybe the World Economic Forum should discuss this issue at the next gathering in Davos? How about that?
