The sewage scandal is all over our media. MPs' inboxes are full of constituents horrified at state of our waterways. Our Environmental Audit Committee report last year found a chemical cocktail in every river in the UK. Yet our Govt *still* turns a blind eye & lets private water firms off the hook
This is one of the most dangerous anti-democratic pieces of legislation in recent times which seeks to criminalise dissent - and Government is trying to rush it through before the opposition organises. Please RT & ask your MP to oppose it next week #PoliceCrackdownBill
The #PolicingBill is an unprecedented attack on civil liberties.
We oppose it, decisively and unequivocally.
#PoliceCrackdownBill
At 5 pm today Tories will push through the #PoliceCrackdownBill , which will see one of the biggest assaults on our right to protest.
It will mean:
1. Bans on “noisy protests”
2. Time limits on protests
3. Criminalisation of protestors
4. No protests around Parliament.
After the appalling scenes in Clapham Common last night here’s hoping Keir Starmer will change his mind on abstaining on the policing bill this week which would further facilitate police cracking down on peaceful protest #PoliceCrackdownBill
The #PoliceCrackdownBill is dangerous, undemocratic & disproportionate
Its purpose is to close down protests the Government doesn't want to hear & it undermines the precious right to freedom of expression
Part of my speech in today's debate
The #PoliceCrackdownBill is a dangerous assault on fundamental civil liberties
It restricts freedom of expression & the right to protest and hands huge powers to the Home Secretary & the police
I’m supporting Amendment to throw it out 👇
The Conservatives just voted the #PoliceCrackdownBill through its Second Reading.
It’s an authoritarian attack on our fundamental right to protest.
We cannot let this silence us. We must continue fighting – loudly, defiantly – for our rights & for justice for all. #KillTheBill
