I was glad to see the Antisemitism Awareness Act pass 320 to 91 yesterday. But in reality, this should have been unanimous.

The 17th District is a community of heroes. I’m grateful for the service and sacrifice of all who have worn our nation’s uniforms, here in the Hudson Valley and across this great nation.

Every president since President Obama, including Presidents Biden and Trump, has adopted the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism. Codifying it into federal law, as my Antisemitism Awareness Act does, will help ensure we are doing everything we can to combat antisemitism.

The Jewish people need our support now and need action now. Codifying a single definition of antisemitism like we just voted to do will help the Department of Education and school administrators clearly identify instances of antisemitism and protect the safety of all students.

We sent a strong message to our Jewish communities by passing the Antisemitism Awareness Act on the first day of Jewish American Heritage Month. I was proud to spearhead this effort and will always stand up for our Jewish communities, students, and families.
