‘Closing The Circle’ (S4Ep18 - 16 April 1991) A favorite pivotal episode of the final season. The Michael/Gary/Susannah story comes to an end. Ken Olin should have won an Emmy for his exceptional performance. Peter Horton & Patricia Kalember complete the circle. Masterpiece.

This is the goddess Cleo Laine. I walked into my kitchen this morning to hear her sing 'No One is Alone' from INTO THE WOODS. But, not to be negative, isn't everyone alone in the end? Is it maybe a false sentiment? It's always puzzled me.

I know some of you will think this is weird but I love peanut butter and bananas, particularly on toaster waffles. Do you ever eat PB&b?

Edward Zwick GLORY was for me a look at the nobility to be found in futility, true of several of Zwick's movies. I wish I could put it better. That final scene as they march forward into certain death has stayed with me for many years, as has Braugher's performance, in a movie full of them

His parents wanted him to be an engineer. He’d never been in front of a camera when I saw his graduate showcase at Julliard. Takes practice to forget fifty people are six feet away staring at you and still remember how to act. It took him no longer than me saying “Action!

Working backwards ... one of a thousand realizations from the finale of SUCCESSION ... Kendall's final triumph is to be the only one who gets what he really wanted all along, which was not to be the head of Waystar-Royco but to be free of the whole crushing toxic thing.

Paul Schrader Wants to Make Another Movie newyorker.com/magazine/2023/… via @NewYorkert

Early on in reading this I took a deep breath and said “This is great writing”. I read on. I read it again. I renewed my subscription to the New Yorker which I’d let lapse a few years ago.

youtu.be/SOPXo8PmdYs via YouTube Youtube is on fire with great performances of this; Sara Bareilles, Stephanie J Block ... But none come near Joanna Gleason, the mother of all Baker's Wives. Without her moment there would be no other.

Watch “Lorraine O'Grady On Baudelaire and Michael Jackson Sometimes you stub your toe on something that knocks you over, knocks the stuffing out of you, makes you for a moment see everything differently. Here's an example.

What's sad is even if you like it (don't worry; I don't) you couldn't give him a nice compliment because he would say 'What toupee? I don't have a toupee!'

Sometimes it's a privilege to post something you've read, to share it because it's made you so happy. This is one of those times.

In a smart subtle way he appreciates her for what she deserves to be appreciated for, and doesn't let her off the hook for all the Scientological nonsense she spouts like a doomsday machine. He's a reason to read the NYer, and it needs some.

Husbands and Wives in “Plaza Suite”
It's hard to remember what a big deal hitmaker Neil Simon was, even harder to meet his work halfway and question it and examine it and respect it, as Vinson Cunningham does here.
