NPT Article 1: 'Each nuclear-weapon State Party to the Treaty undertakes not to transfer to any recipient whatsoever nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices . . ' Utter cynicism from US, the UK and Russia who parade the NPT as their disarmament high-ground.

Given the UK's complete subservience to the US in foreign policy and war-making, the place of nuclear weapons in the NATO framework, and the bi-polar nature of global power politics, any notion of operational independence is a fantasy.
