My response to this morning’s incident at Birley Academy

An offensive in Rafah would be a humanitarian disaster, as well as risking the ceasefire and hostage deal. It must not go ahead.

Extreme and dangerous rhetoric from Ministers like Smotrich must be condemned.

We need an immediate ceasefire.

Derek has lived in the ward for over 40 years, knows the council inside out, and I know he will be another strong voice for our diverse communities of Nether Edge and Sharrow.

I am pleased to report that following my intervention as Heritage Champion the inappropriate repair work done on the packhorse bridge in Graves Park will shortly be rectified by expert stonemasons. (The work couldn’t be done over winter so now is the best time to do it).
