I can’t stop thinking about finding out how the Choctaw nation, one of the first to endure forced removal by Trail of Tears in 1830s gave a gift to the Irish during their Great Famine in 1847.

How the Irish then gave a $3M gift to Navajo nation during the 2020 COVID pandemic🧵

We hung more than 4k earrings today - each one donated in memory of a missing or murdered Indigenous person. Our hearts shouldn’t have to know this much grief.

Irish and Native solidarity always emerges. Recently, Irish people donated to the Navajo Nation to fight covid.

A sculpture in Ireland honors the Choctaw Nation. The Choctaw collected donations of $170 (the equivalent of $6,000 today) and sent it to the Irish during the Great Irish Famine in 1847. The Choctaw were one of the nations forced to march during the Trail of Tears. #StPatricksDay
