Yes United Utilities paid £452,00,000 in dividends to shareholders in 2023 and yet they are still trying to fill lake Windermere with sewage.

Exempting the monarch from a law is a convention, not a law itself. Conventions can be changed.
And this particular convention is an anachronism and totally out of step with modern life.
