This Beethoven Day marks 200 years since his 9th Symphony was first performed in Vienna. Today it will be performed live from four different European cities: Paris, Vienna, Milan and Leipzig.

On this day, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟳, 𝟭𝟴𝟮𝟰: Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 was premiered in Vienna. Its stirring 'Ode to Joy' chorus, with its message of unity in diversity, became the official anthem of the EU in 1985.
