Did you know, up until around 8,000 years ago, Britain was connected to mainland Europe? By this time Mesolithic people were already working on the landscape where Stonehenge would later be built.

The Stonehenge Avenue is an ancient pathway that connects the stone circle to the River Avon. It was constructed around 2300 BC and may have been a processional route. Excavations have shown that it follows natural geological features formed at the end of the last ice age.

Once hunted to extinction, a breeding population of 100 Great Bustard now call Salisbury Plain their home through the work of Great Bustard Group

You may even spot one at Stonehenge!

About 5,000 years ago, the builders of Stonehenge worked together to construct an incredible monument.

Next month, children and their adults are invited to design and build Playhenge – a one-of-a-kind adventure playground! 🤸

The first #AveburyTrust10 of the year takes place on Sunday (28 April).

The 10k trail run starts and finishes at Avebury and includes stunning views across the wider landscape.

Please register at 8:45am at the Coach House on Avebury High Street. The run will begin at 9am.
