What I think were a breeding pair of white tailed robins hanging out. They were about 3 meters apart doin little dances to each other.

Two English-language terms I find unhelpful in discussions of Taiwan: ‘to annex’ and ‘republic of’.

I suspect most (average, apolitical) people don’t pick up on the violence of ‘annex’. Feels too mild & mundane.

‘Republic of…’ comes across as ‘part of…’.

Taiwanese researchers logged 839 plant species over two years in the Chatianshan Nature Reserve south of Taipei. 100 more than in 1992. The 7,000 hectare reserve also has 23 mammal species and 72 species of birds. Rare fern and Taiwan beech.
