30 years ago today, Live released Throwing Copper. It slowly found an audience as radio stations and MTV added 'Lightning Crashes' and 'I Alone,' and hit #1 on the Billboard Album Chart a year later and sold over 8 million copies.

This #AlienDay I'm remembering screenwriter Dan O'Bannon who was dead broke living on his buddy's couch when he wrote a script inspired by his love of sci-fi books and movies, WW2 gremlins, horror comics and even his struggles with Crohn's disease. Without him there is no ALIEN.
