At ICPD30, the UK along with 81 Member States calls for accelerated implementation of the Programme of Action and reaffirms our ongoing commitment to realising the right of all women and girls to make their own choices over their health and lives.

Today, at the United Nations over 80 countries joined UK-led calls to prioritise Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights - ensuring women and girls around the world can access services, complete their education, protect their health, and fulfil their full potential

A fantastic start to the day meeting inspiring women from Mobilising Rights for Associates - working tirelessly to promote the rights of women and girls in Morocco 🇲🇦

5 years ago at its Universal Periodic Review, the then Afghan Government accepted hundreds of recommendations from other Member States, including many on the rights of women and children.

Today the situation of women and girls is dire.

I set out our three 🇬🇧 recommendations

UK’s 🇬🇧 HumanRights GlobalAmbassador Rita French 🇬🇧  andSpecial Envoy for Gender Equality Alicia Herbert OBE visited the CLIO Bouregreg Association 🇲🇦 to learn more about their efforts on the protection of people with disabilities.

To kick off their visit, UK’s 🇬🇧 Special Envoy for Gender Equality Alicia Herbert OBE and Human Rights Global Ambassador Rita French 🇬🇧 discussed 🇲🇦’s upcoming reforms of Family Code with MRAwomen association to understand their involvement and work in tackling gender-based violence.

The UK welcomes the publication of the OSCE Moscow Mechanism report - it sheds further light on the horrific conduct of Russian forces in Ukraine, including widespread torture and sexual violence against illegally detained Ukrainians.
Their actions are utterly unacceptable.

The fourth OSCE Moscow Mechanism report on Ukraine has uncovered evidence of widespread arbitrary detention and torture of thousands of Ukrainian civilians by Russian forces.

Russia must immediately release these detainees and respect its obligations under international law.
