50 departments from Westchester and the Hudson Valley traveled to the 105th Precinct in Queens today to stand in sorrow and solidarity with the NYPD and honor their fallen hero, PO Jonathan Diller. Different Patches, Same Family.

The WCPD sends its deepest condolences to the NYPD and the family of slain Police Officer Jonathan Diller who was shot and killed in the line of duty yesterday. PO Diller’s service and sacrifice will be forever honored and remembered.

WCPD is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred last night on the southbound Bronx River Parkway in White Plains. A man walking in the roadway was struck by a vehicle at 7:46 p.m. just south of Main St. The driver remained at the scene.

Sections of the Bronx River Parkway in the White Plains area are being closed due to flooding. Motorists are advised to avoid that area and to be cautious on all roadways tonight.

In recent days, Commissioner Raynor designated four officers as detectives and promoted another to sergeant. Congrats to Sgt. Carcaterra and Detectives Irwin, Cotto, Dwyer and Bitawi.

Driving conditions are expected to grow increasingly hazardous throughout the morning. Stay off the roads if you can. The WCPD has extra Patrol and Emergency Service officers on our parkways to respond to incidents and assist motorists as needed during the storm.

State Sen. Pete Harckham obtained a grant for the Hazardous Devices Unit last year that enabled it to proceed with plans replace an aging response vehicle. The new vehicle has since been built and put into service. The senator stopped to check it out this afternoon.

Tracking canines are needed to locate fleeing felons, lost persons and discarded evidence year-round, not just when it’s nice and sunny out. WCPD’s Bloodhounds and partners were training and honing their skills in today's inclement weather.

There are many flood-related closures and detours, particularly along most of the Bronx River Parkway and Saw Mill River Parkway, this morning. Commuters are advised to expect delays. Please drive cautiously and follow all posted detours and other traffic controls.

The Bronx River Parkway is closed N/B and S/B from Main Street in White Plains to the Sprain Split in Yonkers. There are other flooding-related lane closures and ramp closures on other parkways. Please drive with caution this morning.

Due to an accident investigation, sections of the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers are closed. N/B traffic on the Bronx River Parkway cannot enter the Sprain but can continue north on the BRP. S/B traffic on the Sprain is being diverted on to Central Park Ave. Avoid these areas.
