Conquest’s second law: the easiest way to explain the behaviour of a given organisation is to assume it is secretly controlled by a cabal of its enemies.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Conservative party’s plan to reintroduce national service.

🚫 Marry
🚫 Buy cigarettes
🚫 Buy alcohol
🚫 Fight in the army

If you intend to reverse all of these, maybe you’d have a serious point. If not we can all see this gerrymander coming a mile away.

I think I’ve just tripped. Are we seriously suggesting this? Which particular demographic does this appeal to! Is there one single boomer who will decide to vote Tory on the back of this? One?

Is this worth losing what’s left of the young adult crowd?

Imagine not appreciating what the difference is between having a cup of coffee and knowing that you’ve gently funded some farmers in the third world and having a line of cocaine and knowing that you’ve funded the murder of children from Tottenham to Mexico. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not to alarm anyone, but China has surrounded Taiwan with warships and aircraft and the DoD has issued two statements about it over the past hour.

A relic, with a relic.

(The other relic in the picture is the head of the crozier of St Gregory the Great, my fave…)

Votes for 16 is an interesting Starmer pledge. Meant to create a “youth quake” among 18-24 voters this time and then aid incumbency after a landslide. But may backfire in that it will unnerve a lot of older former Tories or don’t knows now. A glimpse of a gerrymandered future.
