A pleasant 8 mile walk between Torver and Coniston with plenty of pubs to choose from on the way to take a refreshment break!

Pleased to report we have good numbers of Cowslips in flower in our meadow... They seem to be increasing in number every year.
A great indicator species of nice habitats, but sadly more common on verges now than in fields/meadows.

We have had a weather station recording away here at Wild Lakeland HQ for the last 14 years...

This April is very comfortably the wettest recorded, and to compare, 2012 was the wettest nationally going back to 1836.

As you can see, 2012 wasn't THAT wet here!

Fascinating to watch our Tree Sparrows picking sprigs of lavender while nest building...

I wonder if it serves a purpose?

Stobohope is a 1000 ha valley in the Peeblesshire hills, lying in a National Scenic Area. Rich in wildlife including black grouse and golden eagle. Scottish Forestry have awarded a Β£2m grant for 500 ha (5 km2) sitka spruce here without asking for an EIA. crowdfunder.co.uk/p/save-stobo-h…
