A film by my brother Ilyas Yourish & his team, is gearing up for its premiere soon. “KAMAY” is a production of 6 yrs of unwavering dedication to depict the journey of a Hazara family seeking justice following the mysterious death of their daughter, Zahra, at Kabul University.
“Apartheid involves the segregation of and discrimination against a group on the grounds of identity; Hazara women form a unique social category w/in Taliban’s gender apartheid. Hazara women are targeted on grounds of both gender & ethnicity/religion.” justsecurity.org/93123/hazara-w…
Excellent analysis by Dr. Farkhondeh Akbari and Kobra Moradi on how ethnic discrimination against Hazara women, which predates the Taliban, intersects with gender apartheid under the Taliban’s current repressive regime, compounding the challenges faced by #HazraWomen
Azadah Raz Mohammad and I urge the international community this International Women’s Day to hold the Taliban accountable for gender apartheid. Check out our article via Atlantic Council.

It was an absolute privilege to join my fellow panelists at the Atlantic Council this morning to dive into the 2024 global election year and its profound impact on democracy worldwide.
On the first day of #WomensHistoryMonth , let's remind ourselves that the current situation in Afghanistan has set back the progress achieved through generations of hard-fought battles for gender justice. Stand in solidarity with us, we must fight together for the rights of all.
Yesterday’s #AWERSummit convened leaders from private, public, & social sectors for advancing entrepreneurship, employment, and education for girls & women in AFG. Our joint efforts & solidarity will transform things, I believe in that.
