This is a large tree.

This large tree snapped roughly 6' from the ground.

Preliminary damage results indicate wind speeds reached 130 mph.

Extensive damage here within Fairhaven, West Virginia.

Initial reports suggest at least EF2 tornado damage, meaning wind gusts likely to have exceeded 135 mph.

Keeping an eye on the tornado warned cell in Licking County.

There is more energy for storms to tap into across Central/Western Ohio than in our region. Good news for us yes.

However, our threat for damaging winds and downpours approaches our area closer to midnight.

Much cooler air moves into the region as we end the week and head into the weekend.

Tornado Watch has been extended into Central Ohio.

I am watching to see if this gets expanded into our portion of Eastern Ohio.

I am watching radar and will keep you posted.

So this line of showers and storms is not the line of concern, that will develop closer to midnight/early Thursday morning.

Severe Weather risk returns for Tuesday and continues into Wednesday. The concern lies during the overnight hours of Tuesday into Wednesday.

Thunderstorms are moving into Tyler/Wetzel County this afternoon. Intermittent rain showers will be present this week, along with the setup for severe weather the next few days.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for parts of Belmont, Monroe, & Marshall counties in the Ohio Valley.
A strong thunderstorm with potentially damaging wind and hail capabilities will move through the region between the hours of 5 and 6 PM. Details tonight on WTRF 7News

I was talking the setup for our PM/EVE storm chances within The Ohio Valley.

Meteorologist Tyler Vangi has a closer look at your weekend weather later today.

Clouds are overhead with light rain still around. Best chances for organized showers will more so be during the afternoon hours of Saturday. Coverage during the morning hours will be scattered about.

Swath of showers that are moving into Monroe, Noble, and Guernsey County feature light to moderate pockets of precip.

The hail core embedded within this feisty thunderstorm has been upgraded to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Greene County with radar indicated gusts of 60 mph.
