Mayor Brandon Johnson seemed to pull every string today to mount a surprise charge to block an order that would strip control of ShotSpotter's future from his hands.

But his effort to stall the order and protect his campaign promise failed — it passed 34 to 14 in City Council.

UPDATE: The nomination of Rev. Ira Acree to the RTA board was withheld today — no vote.

Mayor Brandon Johnson's administration asked for the nomination to be held. For now, Acree will not be appointed. A vote on his appointment could come at a later City Council meeting.
