Me, laughing: “I guess you did”

Her, so earnestly: “I’m sorry!”

When someone posts a photo of themself or shares an accomplishment on social media, you can see it as boasting (and feel annoyed), or as celebrating (and feel proud). But however you see it says as much about you as it does about them.

You do not have to confront your abusers to heal. This idea is often a trap to keep the survivor in a constant cycle chasing something that will never offer peace. You can find peace and heal quicker without feedback from who traumatized you.
