I’m disturbed by footage of a Gaza encampment being attacked at Monash Uni last night.

I call on the PM to join me in backing peaceful protest and condemning the attacks.

28 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza in the past 24 hours and 51 were injured.

This brings the total to 34,596 people killed and 77,816 wounded since the beginning of the war on 7 October.

This is the point we are at, folks.

Some of DomesticViolenceNSW’s member services are handing out tents to women & children in regional NSW because there are no other options for safe accommodation.

Josh Butler Specific to the $5000. To be clear - its not new. You cant claim it if you are escaping family violence. It literally takes weeks & weeks for women who apply themselves to get the support. It makes NO difference to perpetrator violence. We apply every other day for it already.

I’m struggling to see how esafety initiatives promoted out of National Cabinet are an answer to lack of services on the ground for - $5000 would barely cover a bond in Sydney.

I've written on political dissent & violent policing for 15 years, particularly in NYC. Compared to Tuesday night, I have never witnessed, at the scene of a protest, the use of police power so disproportionate to the type of demonstration taking place. theintercept.com/2024/05/01/nyc…

Tbh one of the challenges in Sudan is that nobody knows the real death toll. We keep hearing ‘15k’ but we also know that many were probably killed in Al Geniena alone (west Darfur). So yes, it might be 100k. Maybe more. It’s tragic to be using such numbers so loosely…

Many great grandmas have ASIO files for attending anti Vietnam War protests. Media wrote pearl-clutching opinion pieces of radical housewives in twin sets & sensible shoes, marching with students. Media & governments will always try to discredit changemakers to maintain control

A carpark “housing” pilot project.

A reminder to Anthony Albanese and every premier/minister that governments are free to purchase homes for public housing at absolutely any time. This is not new, it is a tool at your disposal that you can choose to use more.

A very surefire way to ensure that students and young people will never vote for your party again is by unleashing a paramilitary force against their friends.

I don't know if people realise just how much work to support victim-survivors is done by unpaid, unqualified people. Friends, family & orgs just like mine. Or how much violence prevention work is done by unpaid, unqualified people, too. Because govs have made choices.
