Maybe this is the Army's way of telling us 'We're doing our best to camouflage underfunding and personnel shortages'? Blink twice if you need help, guys!

Great oped by Cross & Mintz based on their recent Macdonald-Laurier Institute paper:

Resources are still our golden goose. We need to protect them
They drive exports, productivity, incomes and government revenue. It's time we stopped being embarrassed about them

If this surprises you, you haven't been paying attention.

If you innovate, create, take risks, build things, and create jobs for people in this country, then tell your story.

That's all there is to it. nationalpost.com/opinion/pierreโ€ฆ

This! Apparently in 2024 'Just get laser-focused on governing well' is an unorthodox strategy for governments in trouble.

Exactly: โ€œAdministrators have spent much of the recent past recruiting social-justice-minded students and faculty to their campuses under the implicit, and often explicit, promise that activism is not just welcome but encouraged. Now the leaders of those universities are shockedโ€ฆ

William Watson: Trudeau will force a business case for EVs whether we like it or not | Financial Post

Whether thereโ€™s a business case for EVs is a question most of the rest of the world currently seems to be asking. But not Canada

We're already facing a productivity crisis, which is undermining our standard of living. In this context, taxing investment more is like shooting ourselves in the foot. Ottawa must back down on its capital gains tax hike. 2024

Check out this excellent article by Ryan Painter โ€” heโ€™s part of a growing cohort of traditional progressives who feel alienated by the contemporary NDP.

There are some pretty major changes to the Competition Act being pushed through at HoC Finance Committee, without much in the way of serious consideration. This deserves much more scrutiny.

Oh nothing, just the Defence minister publicly a) disavowing the policy of the govt of which he is a part (and complaining he has no influence on it), and b) confirming the govt has no intention of meeting the NATO target to which it is formally committed.

Of course it's worth it. But it would have been *much more worth it* had the cost to build it not quadrupled under the government's purview, or if we hadn't made it impossible for the private sector to build it. An extra $26-34 billion in value has been lost.
