Our last Iowa Poll asked likely GOP caucusgoers what they thought about Trump saying immigrants who enter the U.S. illegally are 'poisoning the blood' of America

42% say it makes them more likely to support Trump, 28% say it makes them less likely, and 29% say it doesn't matter

Almost unnoticed, today is the 25th anniversary of Bill Clinton's impeachment. At the time, it seemed like the biggest story many of us would ever cover. A lot has happened since then and impeachment battles are no longer quite so rare.

We aren’t even in ‘24 yet, and already SCOTUS poised to play HUGE role in the contest: 1) can Jan. 6 rioters be charged w/ obstruction; 2) presidential immunity re: Jack Smith election subversion case: 3)abortion pill; and 4) almost certain to see CO ballot case.

An important note on timing: the stay issued by the Colorado Supreme Court will remain in effect if Trump even *asks* to step in by 1/4.

That means that (1) Trump almost certainly *will* be on the primary ballot in Colorado; & (2) SCOTUS can focus instead on the general.

“The ruling will almost certainly speed efforts to force the issue up to the U.S. Supreme Court, and the court contemplated that outcome by staying its decision until Jan. 4, 2024, to give the justices time”

Why do people feel as pessimistic now as they did in the depths of the pandemic? Maybe we should take Trump and his GOP loyalists seriously when they boast that making right-wing people feel besieged and liberal Americans feel hopeless is their game plan. offmessage.net/p/donald-trump…

The most obvious reason all schools should be phone-free: phones reduce learning. How could they not? Don't they make it harder for you to focus?

It's happening all around the world, since 2012. Here's Derek Thompson's report on the new PISA data:
