Not that it changes anything but if you fully burn out you also stop being able to work, try as you might. Those who can power through still have some support network. Those who are pushed out fully aren't seen as academics. Deported, fired, defined out of existence, deleted.

people in Australia whinge about our strata title system but the fact that nearly all apartment buildings here have individually titled units with a good mix of owner-occupied and rentals is a huge win for us IMO

you know how sometimes you can see someone (including yourself) doing and saying all the 'right things' but you just sense the disconnection from reality? I've been struggling to articulate it, but I think its a map/territory issue, so now I could say 'he's in the map'.
