Follow up to this because it caused a bit of discussion at the time. I bumped into the farmer yesterday and he confirmed that this ewe had been unable to stand and was due to be dispatched anyway. So, horrible as it was to see, there was no financial loss here.

The EU Common Agriculture Policy might be the most environmentally ruinous government programme ever invented – and it just got *even worse*. Love or hate Brexit, I think we can all agree that being out of the EU’s grotesque CAP is a huge blessing for the UK.

You’ve asked me several questions on this thread and accused me of avoiding answering, so here goes.

I believe a woman is a human being who belongs to the sex class that produces large gametes. It’s irrelevant whether or not her gametes have ever been fertilised, whether or not

Sadly there are some pathetic individuals about. Checking Coot nests today to find one had been attacked using large stones thrown from the bank at the nest. Result was 4 smashed eggs and a dead adult in the water. What pleasure is had in doing that??

Good for a chuckle.

During the Peninsular War (1808-1814) Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington allegedly wrote a letter to the British War Office after he/his staff were consistently pestered by staff officers wanting administrative details.

What a difference a few degrees make! So relieved to see a massive increase in both numbers & activity. I was beginning to wonder had the Sand Martin abandoned the Wall & moved to a milder coastal colony. It can't be overstated how important weather/climate is to this species.
