Standards, not rules, are what build winning teams.

Winning teams are built on raising the bar and surpassing expectations.

Embrace the challenge and strive for greatness.

Be more about the process, less about the prize.

You want to be:

- Highly recruited
- Power hitter
- Steal bags
- Leader

But you aren't prepared to:

- Do boring workouts every week
- Send emails to college coaches
- Quit eating junk everyday
- Support your teammates

Nobody can help you if you won't help yourself.

Culture building has just as much to do with the parents as it does with the players.

A productive, positive, and engaged parent group is an X factor few coaches spend time cultivating.

PARENTS ARE AN INTEGRAL ELEMENT THAT MUST BE BOUGHT IN!

Parents: You’re raising a child, not an athlete. Teach them respect, hard work, how to be a good person. Show them what character & work ethic are. Hold them accountable. Teach them that they won’t ever get what they don’t earn. Strong, well-rounded kids find success much easier!

Your future depends on what you do in silence when no one is watching.

Toughness is making the daily choice to consistently do what’s hard over doing what’s easy. But there’s really no easy path. It takes what it takes. If you choose to do what’s easy, your only chance for success is just to hope that your opponent is lazier & softer than you are!

Nothing grosses me out more than watching a phenomenally talented collegiate athlete be the poorest teammate with the WORST body language after failure. You can’t be a leader/the standard only when you are successful. Get it together, theirs young athletes watching you.

The first two questions you should ask yourself after an out:

1. Did I swing at a good pitch?
2. Was I on time?

Everything else is secondary.

Kids have to learn to dig deep, struggle & fight their way out of adversity. You can pay to put them on every kind of competitive team, get them a trainer/equipment/extra practice, but if they can’t claw their way past troubles that WILL come, they’ll never develop as athletes!
