Responses to this post remind me a large fraction of Americans’ conception of freedom is that they should be able to do whatever they want and transfer the risks and costs of their choices to everyone else. Freedom comes with responsibilities. You are not entitled to our deaths.

A clarification: Smart speed limiting adjusts speed according to posted speed limit. Car companies already have the maps and could quickly deploy the tech in newer cars. I’d be more sympathetic to “freedom“ concerns if motorists would stop killing 40K and injuring millions/year.

We speed limit 50lb e-bikes and stand scooters to 20 MPH “for safety” but cars, which are 100 times heavier and 5 times faster, have no such limits. Smart speed limiting and geofencing for cars would save thousands of lives/year. We need nhtsagov to take real action.

PA Department of Transportation has continually ignored calls from neighbors, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, Philly's Office of Complete Streets, & others to make Henry Ave less deadly.

Kevin's death is on them, and their insistence on convenience and false metrics over human life.

The number of “cycling fans” calling for the maiming and/or dismemberment of climate protesters is… discouraging.
