Switzerland! Absolutely head and shoulders above everything else in songwriting, performance, the lot. Not just the best this year, the best for years.

Are we just going to keep ping-ponging the winner between Sweden and Ireland? Because it’s the witch for me all the way.

Completely and utterly torn on house hunting. Each has the opposite pros and cons of the other. But it’s a great way to see the dawn every morning.

Who knew I’d be racing down from putting the kids to bed to find out election results from Sandwell. That was not on my bingo card… ever.

I'll say this bearing in mind that Bluey is the best TV series for years and years but... the half-hour special is a rare missfire. It teaches children that if moving home is upsetting, you can just not do it - which is EXACTLY what I didn't need while we're moving house.

Got our free nursery hours for our three-year-old, hooray! First invoice is £200 more. Sure, makes sense.

Not only is Stu a generous reader, but he's absolutely right here. I've never had quotes for a book like I'm getting for The Cracked Mirror by Chris Brookmyre - author after author using the word 'genius'.

My six-year-old has taken to making her own after-school snacks and they frequently include a ‘jam dip’ in an egg cup. I’ve never been prouder.

Keith is beloved for A Boy Made of Blocks, Days of Wonder and The Frequency of Us. He wears his brilliance lightly, but his deftness with characterisation, skill with genre (here, Gothic) and ability to plug straight into readers' emotions is as good as anyone writing today.

This is a truly wonderful book. Ambitious, beautiful, using the language of gothic novels to create something both spooky and uplifting. A unique book.

Asked one of the nursery staff when she’s finishing for parental leave…

You can probably fill in the gaps.

So unfortunately I shall now be emigrating immediately.

Congratulations to Mark Billingham - The Last Dance is genuinely funny, but also moving, thoughtful, surprising. What a start to a new series.

Thanks to the excellent Jo Callaghan for this wonderful write-up of Alexandra Wilson’s debut novel The Witness, coming in June - the most authentic UK legal thriller, full of twists.

3-year-old: “Why is there rain and wind and sun? Why is there all the weathers here?”

Exactly. It’s WEIRD.
