#OnThisDay in 1977 Stanisław Pyjas, a Polish student and an active member of the opposition, was found dead at age 23 in Krakow, under suspicious circumstances. Student marches against the regime and political unrest erupted across Poland. 🇵🇱
📅 Today marks the anniversary of the liberation of the German concentration camp complex Mauthausen-Gusen by the U.S. Army.
❗️Between 1938-45 over 190,000 people were imprisoned there. At least 90,000 of them were killed.

📅 Adopted in 1791, the Polish Constitution was Europe’s first and the world’s second modern constitution.

📅 79 years ago the concentration camp at Dachau was liberated by American forces.
◾️It was the first concentration camp to be constructed by the Nazis and one of the last to be liberated. Over 180 thousands had been imprisoned in the camp by the time it was liberated.

📅 24 April 1915 is held as the starting date of the Armenian Genocide.
▪️ The amount of Armenians that lost their lives during this period is estimated at between 600,000 and 1,5 million.
