Week 2 of #CSW68 and the effects of the international financial system on the lives of women has become a critical theme. Thanks to Fòs Feminista for a powerhouse panel on the impact of global debt on gender equality and #SRHRJ in the Global South. Debt is a trap we could end.

#CSW68 has kicked off with huge energy. We're listening to Katy Gallagher list Australia's recent steps towards gender equality, including the new Nat Strat on Gender Equality, superannuation on paid parental leave and transparent gender wage gap data. A good moment.

Every industry has a gender pay gap in favour of men, but employers in female-dominated industries have smaller pay gaps. Women's leadership = women's economic empowerment.

While we welcome the proposed 'right to disconnect' which goes before the Senate today, this is a classic example of a legislative proposal which urgently needs a gender impact analysis. ERA wants government to commit to a gendered analysis and gendered review in 12 months.

ERA welcomes the news that the Coalition will not oppose changes to the stage three tax cuts. The original stage three cuts were were heavily skewed to high earning men. The proposed changes suggest the government is thinking intelligently about how its policies affect women.

ERA is a signatory to the Power to Prevent statement supporting the bill before Parliament that will provide better access to justice for victim-survivors by reducing the financial risk in proceeding with discrimination matters. Read the statement: bit.ly/47Sr7Tv
