Anora is excellent. Madison and Eydelshteyn driver year-best work. Almost got a headache from all the chaos and yelling (it’s often hilarious), but Sean Baker pulls one of his signature endings that punches you in the gut. Easily one of the best films at Cannes

Really liked The Apprentice! Sebastian Stan’s performance exceeded my expectations. Left feeling like this was a truthful dive into the ethos that guides Trump and of corruption in general. Kinda spoon-feeds you, but it had a strong thesis and was well done

It’s impossible to overstate how fucking insane and wildly entertaining The Substance is. I needed this. Still buzzing from the unanimous “what the fuck” screaming and howling from the audience. Exceptionally well directed, fantastic sound and makeup. I want this to be huge

Universal Language is a witty, poetic, and deeply moving portrait of a banal place and its extraordinary people. Even not grasping all the economic and social commentary on Winnipeg, it’s impossible to miss the point. May have a second watch when it’s out, excellent stuff

Kinds of Kindness will please Lanthimos fans. He and co-writer Fillipou return to their offbeat, darkly comedic style with a mostly excellently utilized ensemble (wished for more Chao). Not much to chew on and I did feel the slow pacing past the two hour mark. But its a fun time!
