Do affect ant gut microbiomes? It sure seems so, especially the gut fungi! And, specifically during behavior manipulation as well! Check out our new pre-print which poses that gut microbes have a role to play in zombie ant behavior 🧟‍♀️🐜🍄doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

Meta-analysis of 186 studies, incl. 665 trials, looking at conservation interventions globally, and over time.
Encouraging data! Also highlights the need for more counterfactual studies & meta-analysis to assess conservation impact.

New study sheds light on the critical role of pollinators in crop production, with guidance for future research 🐝

Pollinator dependence values across various crops and cultivars reveal an underestimation of pollinator importance 🌻

Expeditions can be hard to maneuver as a mother & scientist.

Intense & exciting to have my essay published in The New York Times exploring how Expeditions can be an Academic Act of Defiance

This is Massospora cicadina, the zombifying fungus that infects periodical cicadas. 🔈

It does not kill or slow down it’s host. Instead, the infected cicada is coerced into actively dispersing the spores through repeated failed mating attempts. The genitalia have been consumed…

📢Gwenola Gouesbet reported an RNA-Seq approach, enhanced by biochemical analyses, established that the high resistance to β-cyfluthrin in an Alphitobius diaperinus strain comes from high basal activities for detoxification enzymes.
