This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.

Our teams in Nepal provide Gurkha veterans and widows with tools to maintain and improve good mental health.

Practices, such as meditation, can ease stress and anxiety, promoting a calmer mind and better emotional regulation.

On this International Nurses Day, we'd like to thank all the nurses who work in our clinics, Residential Homes, Medical Camps and who travel across Nepal visiting Gurkha veterans and widows at their homes.

Today, across Nepal, Matatirtha Aunsi - Mothers Day is celebrated. Residents in our Home in Dharan have joined in the festivities, with cakes, gifts and cards, and visits from their children.

Today marks the anniversary of Victory in Europe. This VE Day we remember the 138,000 Gurkhas who gallantly served across 45 Battalions as well as 6 Garrison and Training Battalions during World War Two.

Khaisara Damai's house was built with mud and stone. During the rainy season water would seep through the walls. The team from our Area Welfare centre in Gulmi carried out extensive repairs on the home making it a much more comfortable place for her to live.

In Nepal we provide a 'Home Carers Allowance' for those who are full time carers for elderly relatives. Fourteen caregivers took part in this successful training program at our Area Welfare Centre in Lamjung, learning practical skills and sharing their experiences as carers.
