Last day in the office as CEO of HSE. Feeling emotionally drained saying goodbye to staff that come to work every day to give people good care & hope. This has been the most inspirational time of my career. I'm humbled & a better person for the privilege. Thank you all. HSE Ireland

Two weeks ago not a single intern was paid in our hospital on the first payday as per hospital pay schedule.

We were made to beg and involve Irish Medical Organisation before the HR dept would even confirm we would be paid at all.

No one apologised. Bills went unpaid.

In coordination with 🇺🇸🇫🇷🇩🇪🇮🇹🇨🇦🇬🇧 I will now propose new measures to EU leaders to strengthen our response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and cripple Putin’s ability to finance his war machine. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

As we remember the 60th anniversary of the Siege of Jadotville in the Congo, we think of all those brave Irish soldiers who did their country proud, especially those from Mullingar.

As if we needed another reason for why it so wrong that our overseas doctors are denied stability in their life and equal access to specialist training but here's one more 👇

Despite being 'understaffed, under-resourced and under-valued' our doctors have deferred strike action due to ethical considerations. Makes you wonder about the ethics of those that allowed it to come to this 10 months into a pandemic?

Our Public health Specialists have been working tirelessly since the pandemic began despite deeply unfair contracts. Now there are stepping up to the plate further by deferring their planned strike action to continue to protect us all

Today with Claire Byrne Public Health doctors’ advice is being compared with contrasting comments by other well known doctors who are not public health doctors. Public health is a specialty.

Our public health doctors have been playing a blinder. This should be acknowledged.

That it hasn’t is reflective of how out of touch with reality at the coal face DEPR are.

I agree with Dr. Fauci—there IS a lot we can do. We can control Covid if we follow the science and work together. bit.ly/31nd75f

Latest restrictions - some thoughts

We have been well led through this crisis. We dodged a bullet in April/May/June - we didn't have army trucks transporting coffins (Italy), ICUs in tents in public parks (Spain), or burial pits (NY). Didn't happen by accident.

Thank you to Dr Ronan Glynn & our Public Health Specialists for leading us through this crisis. They don’t always give us good news but NPHET give us evidence based recommendations.
