To correct the record: Tory MP Lia Nici said poverty is decreasing, even though the Child Poverty Action Group has shown child poverty is increasing.

2010: 3.4 million children in poverty
2024: 4.3 million children in poverty

Post Office Minister says he “doesn’t care how much it costs” to compensate victims of the Horizon IT scandal.

On Politics North, I asked Kevin Hollinrake whether financial pressure from other scandals could affect payouts to former sub-postmasters

Tim Iredale caroline bilton Janet skinner Lee Castleton Absolutely shocking what happened to the postmasters - they all need justice. If the itv drama hadn’t been shown they would have still have been ignored. They all need clearing, and properly compensated- it impacted their whole families.

I've seen Janet Skinner on TV a few times, and considering how much she and her fellow sub-postmasters have been through, she always comes across as someone with more integrity and honesty than anyone representing the Post Office or the Government.

There are around 1000 subpostmasters, the compensation amount is £1bn. So why not pay each subpostmaster £1m RIGHT NOW. If the Post Office/Fujitsu disagree, let them fight through the courts to get their money back.
