Not naming names but I believe that someone I live with is obsessed with home improvement projects only because they inevitably reveal more home improvement projects. On a spiritual and psychological level, I simply will not be taking this on.

I guess I should qualify this with ONE BIG GLARING PROBLEM as there are many problems with our food system. But I don't think GMOs are one of them.

The problem is not GMOs. The problem is that we eat a lot of meat in the global north, and that meat requires a whole heck of a lot of resources or animal suffering (or both, if we're real lucky).

The dialogue about resolving the conflict is stifled by a constrained vocabulary, a problem rooted in the omission of crucial facts from educational and public spheres, and the intense dispute over the facts that are acknowledged / Etan Nechin

100 FUCKING PERCENT.

While I am mostly still so hurt and pissed as hell over this, I really do want to avoid screaming into a void. This is a time when we need more dialogue, not less.

The food we eat is responsible for more than a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions, yet government research studying how to curb emissions from food remains drastically underfunded.

📊 New Hillel data (⚠️small slightly skewed sample) shows widespread discontent with pro-Palestinian campus protests among Jewish students — and also deep divisions

Btw, there are many Jews (both Israelis and American) who are doing just this because they want to build bridges where they can. Jews are not a monolith, and neither are Zionists.

A lot of people now say the anti-war protests of the Vietnam Era backfired or were counterproductive, but is that actually true?

Looking at the literature I think it’s highly determined by what exactly you mean.

Individual pro-environmental behavior makes us feel good, but usually doesn't make much of a difference.

This one is different. Beef is like, super awful. And we can do something about it.

Huh, the CDC’s top avian flu scientist can’t sleep because dairy farmers don’t know what to do and won’t cooperate with authorities. It’s at times like this you kinda wish the ag secretary wasn’t a former dairy lobbyist. statnews.com/2024/05/03/bir…
