The crew is assembled and getting ready for a burn today in the Albany Pine Bush. These prescribed fires allow the team to restore wildlife habitat for a host of rare and important species, including the iconic Karner Blue butterfly. #RxFire #GoodFire #Conservation #restoration
The NY Assembly has voted to amend the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act! Should the Senate follow, these changes would ensure safe and accessible drinking water for over 1M Long Island residents. Special thanks to Rep. Fred W. Thiele, Jr. for sponsoring this important bill!

Did you know the Ashokan Rail Trail was made possible by the Environmental Protection Fund?? We need full funding for the EPF in the final budget: $400 million with no staff offloads. Governor Kathy Hochul Sen. Stewart-Cousins Carl E. Heastie
Biked along the Ashokan Reservoir today. New York needs to do more, not less, to protect our drinking water.
That’s why Carl E. Heastie Sen. Stewart-Cousins should reject Governor Kathy Hochul’s 50% cut to the Clean Water Infrastructure Act in the final state budget. No cuts to clean water!
Thankful to our incredible team of Nature Conservancy NY experts working with communities to address threats from #climatechange including flooding. Learn more about the issue from Alison Branco, our Climate Adaptation Director featured in this Newsday story.
Kudos to the NYLCV team for another great Capital Region event! Congratulations to honorees Cypress Creek Renewables and Jim Tierney. Wonderful remarks by (((Deborah Glick))) and Sen. Stewart-Cousins reminded all of the role and value of environmental advocates in policy making.
Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. is also a conservation legend, championing some of the most important policies in New York and on Long Island to protect clean water and open space over his time in public service. Big shoes to fill, indeed. He will be missed.
