Such a huge honour to be selected as one of the winners of the Climate Journalism Award last night, alongside so many other brilliant journalists. And a big shout out to Jocelyn Timperley, who commissioned and edited the winning story!

For BBC Future, I wrote about the ancient tank cascades in Sri Lanka, looking at how this hydraulic system harvests rainwater to provide a lifeline for communities during prolonged periods of drought.

In my op-ed in today's Financial Times, a historic moment for the global energy sector

Just with today's policy settings alone, International Energy Agency projects demand for each of oil, gas & coal is set to peak this decade – driven by the striking rise of clean tech like solar & EVs, and economic shifts in 🇨🇳

Yet more startling figures on EV sales. Fair to say switch to EVs now happening significantly faster than even the sector's most bullish cheerleaders anticipated. businessgreen.com/news/4124005/s…

Such a beautifully written piece by Becca Warner contemplating how to reduce the impact of her last polluting act - her own burial.

So many interesting options out there in the world now!

Climate people in Edinburgh, we'll meet again this Thursday at 7pm for Climate Drinks.

The venue is The Joker and the Thief, on Leith Walk. Warm pub (it's August and I have to say this?), good beer on draft, doggies welcome.

NEW: don’t let the ULEZ chatter mislead you.

The British public is much more supportive and united on Net Zero policies than the public in peer countries, with Conservative voters frequently as green as the centre-left elsewhere on.ft.com/453oWeT

I had a look at the International Energy Agency 's projections on oil use, & why it thinks it is track to peak this decade.

Its fascinating what is happening: a downward pull from low carbon/more efficient transport vs an upward pull from things like SUVs, aviation & plastics

Half of car trips in London are under 3km, and nearly two thirds are made with no passengers. Obviously most of these could be walked or cycled with the right changes to our streets. But could hire buggies be a solution for a lot of the rest? A 🧵!
