Happy Pub Day to myself! My story collection, GAMES AND RITUALS, is out in paperback today. I found it hard to write with any fluency in 2020 but I did write one story during lockdown and Lohania’s drunken speech about bikini waxes in “Pandemic Behavior” still makes me happy.

I’m so thrilled to be on BBC Radio 4 Bookclub. I was sort of likkered up on croissants from the breakfast bar during the taping and I don’t remember everything I said but I do remember that it was really, really fun.

The best story from my UK book tour is that one night I got up for a glass of water and Ian woke up and said “Who are you?” I said “We have been married for twenty five YEARS” and it turned out he’d actually said “HOW are you?” and I couldn’t go to sleep because I kept laughing.

UK book tour: before last night’s event, I was eating cheese and crackers in the green room and just before I went on stage, I asked a nearby woman if I had crumbs on my face and she was like “Um ... not really.”

My UK book tour continues: at last night’s event, my husband sat in the front row and I smiled and winked at him a few times and when the lights went up, I saw that it was not my husband but some random man in a similar shirt who now thinks I am really, really into him.

I’m less than 5 minutes into my UK book tour and I’ve already spilled food on the front of my shirt. And I only packed two shirts.

We dropped Hector off at college yesterday and I ran the entire gamut of human emotions in 35 minutes. (It was an oddly similar feeling to the time I left my purse in an Arby’s.)
