Thrilled to have an essay in The Times and The Sunday Times this morning, drawing on my new book 'Growth: A Reckoning'. I explore our (surprisingly new) obsession with economic growth -- one of our most important, but also most dangerous, ideas.

Last month I worked undercover at HMP Bedford, one of the most dangerous jails in the country.

I was hired by an agency without thorough checks - they didn’t even Google my name! - and then I was able to walk inside and interact with prisoners without security searches.

I love this so much. The winner of Paris’s ‘cafe race’ - where waiters compete to see who can carry a tray with a croissant, coffee and water along a course of just over a mile - crosses the finish line yesterday. Look how chuffed he is!
