Nice to see the observers at UKMON got a good orbit! archive.ukmeteors.co.uk/reports/2024/o…
My raw pic showed the end of a faintish 557.7nm O line, indicating speedy, but not at the upper limit. Meteor measured at 56km/sec. To paraphrase 'Ye cannae change the laws o' physics'. Brilliant!
The perils of working tired... After a careful wavelength calibration, the line I identified as Fe in my pic is actually Ionised Mg. Here is a instrument corrected spectrum plot and synthetic spectrum. BritAstro Royal Astronomical Society Astronomy Now #fireball IMO Meteor Org. Astronomy Magazine
HIREMS II has just caught a spectacular fireball spectrum through some thick cirrus! Barely see Arcturus through it! Type A (+Ca), VERY strong Ca+ with the strongest Si+ lines I've ever seen. ~ 0.3nm/pix Fabulous! Royal Astronomical Society BritAstro IMO Meteor Org. #fireball
Rowan Atkinson is right. Freedom of speech is one of the most precious things in life. We lose it at our own peril. Scotland’s First Minister, Humza Yousaf appears to have forgotten this.

I see the rip off charges Glasgow Airport ✈️ are going up again to 'improve services' Funny how the pedestrian exit point had double yellow lines appear recently. Total scam with local aurhority complicity! What happened to the train link?!
Various stations are receiving signals so 小型月着陸実証機SLIM is down and intact. However I reckon its either on its side or back after tipping over as it touched down. REALLY unlucky if so... we'll soon know.
Still a success as its working on the lunar surface! Congratulations JAXA(Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency)
Watching 小型月着陸実証機SLIM on youtube. Absolutely fantastic. Good luck SLIM!!!

After a poor spell a REALLY interesting spectrum. Thanks to Jamie and the UKMON database this looks like a Coma Berenicid. Very unusual composition! Weak Na emission and very weak Fe, however other metals including W and V. BritAstro Royal Astronomical Society Popular Astronomy Europlanet 🇪🇺 ☄️
