Daily Wire: 'Women's sports are under threat from trans women. We can't prove it because it's not a problem that actually exists, but it might be. And we have to protect women's sports.'

Also Daily Wire: 'Women's sports shouldn't exist.'

Where I think the right has gone wrong is doubling/tripling down on an anachronistic one size fits all model of masculinity that doesn't work and is going to work less and less well as time continues.

I keep seeing comments like this. So the question then becomes, WHY do men not seek mental health support? Is it because men don't want help or because they've been conditioned not to ask for it? How do you deprogram men from equating pain w/ weakness?

Worth remembering the reason there's a gag order in place regarding the Trump trial is because Trump routinely acts like a mafioso, threatening and intimidating those who would speak against him. The gag order is to protect people worried about their lives.

The *reason* women's rights are under threat is because (mostly) straight (mostly white) men can't get their shit together. Ditto: LGBTQ rights, voting rights, rise of Christian Nationalism, etc. All poison drawn from the same well.

Sure, but I suspect a lot of men feel torn between a more traditional masculinity they were raised with and a masculinity they worry will 'feminize' them. The problem is VERY deep and it will take generations to untangle. Talking about it is the first step.

It's not a contest, nor does it ignore the problems that still exist: female underrepresentation in power, wage gap, etc. To acknowledge suffering among one group doesn't devalue the suffering of others. Instead, it should create avenues for empathy.

This is the problem with acknowledging that men need help: the ridicule is immediate. Men are killing themselves more, dying younger, experiencing an epidemic of loneliness, underperforming in school, and the left wants to ignore it because 'patriarchy.'

It's easy to make fun of this because it looks so fucking stupid but the right (this thing, Jordan Peterson, Josh Hawley, Tucker Carlson) is doing something the left, to this point, has not: recognizing that men are suffering and attempting to address the problem.

OPINION: 'I believe that every single person in that courtroom is a better American than the defendant, and it is because they are better than he will ever be that I believe Donald John Trump will receive the verdict he deserves,' writes Michael Ian Black
