Good grief! You have one month left to see 'The Life & Art of Charles M. Schulz' at the MN History Center! In this exhibit, explore Schulz's personal history and his role as the inspiration and artistic talent behind Peanuts.
#OnThisDay , May 2, 1878, the Washburn A Mill exploded in a fireball, destroying what had been Minneapolis' largest industrial building. The explosion was heard ten miles away in St. Paul and is remembered as the worst disaster of its type in the city's history.
#OnThisDay , April 24, 1956, the Metropolitan (Met) Stadium opened its doors and welcomed 18,366 people to a game between the Minneapolis Millers and the Wichita Braves. The Met stadium would become the home of the Twins, Vikings, and the Minnesota Kicks soccer team.

Betcha didn't know that Minnesota has a state song! #OnThisDay , April 19, 1945, 'Hail! Minnesota' was adopted as the state song. It was written in 1904 by University of Minnesota students. Image from the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State.
#OnThisDay , April 17, 1895, the Hastings spiral bridge opened to traffic, with its odd architectural look making it a local tourist attraction. The shape was designed both to slow horse-drawn traffic and corral visitors to the main business district.
