I've been pointing this out for days. The issue is the perpetrator's perception; it's not a vehicle for gender self-ID; and I'm struggling to see any rational basis for saying that there is any detriment to women in this approach.

I look at brilliant strategies for teaching well and then the size of the GCSE spec I teach and despair sometimes. They aren't compatible. Predominantly GCSE success is about the motivation of students to do lots of independent work.
