In peak cringeworthy news, I've said the word 'vibe' about 15 times already today, but waiting for the vibe of the pre-election period to settle is a funny old thing.

Even better to be doing this in the context of the election news. I'm going to talk about why we need a positive progressive vision for technology in the UK and importance of building strong 'yes and' coalitions to get stuff done.

Now that a general election has been called, I thought it was worth pre-emptively laying to rest some rumours that sometimes circulate about Economic and Social Research Council rules on what ESRC-funded researchers supposedly are and aren't allowed to say during the ‘pre-election period’. (1)

We have a small org tech support issue and can't tell if it's legit or not. A Microsoft tech support person (we think) wants us to add a DNS TXT record to our domain with today's date & verify via this apparently non-MS site mxtoolbox.com/TXTLookup.aspx. This feels weird. Is it weird?

I should probably have some sensible comments about this but, before I do, can we talk about the spinning disco ball of names?
