Once a month, via a chartered bus, DC Chinatown's remaining Chinese residents leave the city for the suburbs to grocery shop.

Why? There's no familiar, affordable food in their neighborhood.

In case you’re wondering how much voters have lost it, the mayor of Wausau discovered harmful PFAS chemicals in the water supply, and lost reelection because she got rid of them.

With all ballots processed in both Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, barring any changes between now and certification tomorrow, appears to be headed for a three-way top two in November with Sam Liccardo, Evan Low, and Joe Simitian.

For 40 years, the Los Angeles mandated that every new high-rise install a helicopter pad on the roof on the basis of fire safety. The theory? A helicopter might land on a burning building and evacuate occupants.

Big underreported story. Ted Cruz wrote an amendment to give lawmakers a police escort through public airports—three years after he was caught fleeing to Cancún.

He stuffed it into a must-pass FAA bill that HIS committee (he’s the top Republican) oversees.

Montana's Supreme Court struck down multiple GOP-backed voting restrictions.

The court is the last bulwark against GOP efforts to undermine fair elections & ban abortion.

But if a conservative wins this fall's race to succeed McGrath, rulings like this could go the other way

I hope journalists follow up on this. Sherman is questioned by an anti-war protester who from his later statements appears to be Palestinian and Sherman says to him 'you're trying to kill every Jew.' If we had a word for anti-Palestinian bigotry, seems like this would qualify.

In a country with a functioning democratic system and somewhat healthy political culture, people like this would be shunned and ostracized, a party elevating them would not be considered a viable option by anyone but an extremist fringe.

America, however, evidently has neither.

As most predicted, thanks to Florida Dems canceling their presidential primary (to help Biden), Democratic voters are so far taking a pass on next week's voting - when municipal races are at stake.
GOP mail advantage whopping 15-to-1 so far.
Local-level effects could be massive.

This is the Kansas GOP. People were asked to donate money to take their turn punching & kicking a Biden effigy.

This was not the fringe. It was a booth at the GOP fundraiser. This is the caliber of the GOP. Why would any serious person be part of this?

BEIRUT/THE HAGUE (Reuters) - An Israeli tank crew killed a Reuters reporter in Lebanon by firing two shells at a clearly identified group of journalists and then 'likely' opened fire on them with a heavy machine gun, according to a report into the incident published on Thursday.

Even mainstream Democrats are calling on the US to put more pressure on Israel to stop the carnage in Gaza. Time to stop arms transfers, condition future military aid, demand 5x more aid trucks into Gaza, and lay out consequences for a Rafah invasion. apnews.com/article/israel…

28-11: The Florida state Senate passes a bill to remove local governments' authority to adopt heat standards, such as guaranteed shade and rest breaks, for workers.

The bill would make all local heat protections “void and prohibited.”
