I haven’t seen much national or local coverage of Governor Moore’s successful housing package, but there should be! state-level zoning reform is HARD and Governor Wes Moore and Secretary Jake Day deserve credit for getting the ball rolling

Riverside (55% Latino, ~10% Asian) now has an all-white, all-male city council, with all of the (relatively) progressive and pro-housing people out of office. Backlash is real.

I don't think people understand the *massive* gulf between fire injuries/deaths and traffic violence.

For my NJ followers - we've started up 'Safe Streets Teaneck' to push for better safer street design in Teaneck and surrounding towns. One win already - we got them to pass an awesome Complete Streets policy last week! Lmk if you want to get involved or have local friends

This is the ultimate self-inflicted suburban wound. You can’t have every child at a school individually chauffeured in a 3,000lb metal box during the same 15 minute time window w/out traffic….cars are a geometry and safety problem. We have school buses—make parents use them!
