On its homepage, the The New York Times website currently has four (4) prominently-displayed pieces about American college protests and zero (0) pieces about the nearly 300 bodies (some with their hands and feet bound) found in a mass grave at a hospital in southern Gaza.

Intellectuals, even on the left, (but especially in western academia) seem to be fundamentally divorced from the reality of what they analyze; confined to their ivory towers from where they lash out abstract theories, rarely ever engaging with the forces they claim to care about.

Palestinians are not letting themselves become a land acknowledgement and a lot of people who LOVE land acknowledgements are so mad about this.

This presupposes that criticisms toward “diasporic poetry” have more to do w/ aesthetic motif than w/ invoking the politics of the global south w/o actually disrupting and dismantling the material realities of those whose oppression is often subjectified in these works
