Announced at the media launch and presented by Waverley Council Mayor Paula Masselos, Greek artist Leda Alexopolou was awarded the Waverley Council Mayor’s Award of $5,000 for her surreal bronze work ‘Keep Walking’ - Congratulations Leda!

Congratulations to John Petrie (NSW), the 2023 recipient of the Aqualand Sculpture Award. The acquisitive award of $100,000, is the most generous sculpture award in the Southern Hemisphere, Petrie's work '23.5°' will be gifted by Aqualand for permanent public placement in NSW.

Good News! $228,900 has already been paid to 76 Australian artists in the next Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi and Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe exhibitions thanks to the Federal government’s RISE Fund as much needed Covid financial support.

In a gesture of international friendship in response to the Black Summer Fires 2019/20, the Friendship Society of Denmark, Australia and New Zealand has gifted three sculptures to the people of the Snowy Valleys, part of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail launching in April 2022.

Artists Tom Buckland and Capto Collaborative are the 2021 recipients of the Clitheroe Foundation Emerging Artist Mentor Program, alongside 2020 recipients Sian Watson and Sivaan Walker. Each artist receiving $15,000 to create their sculptures and undertake a 12-month mentorship.

In partnership with the Denmark-based Friendship Society of Denmark, Australia and New Zealand, Sculpture by the Sea is pleased to announce Danish artist Naja Utzon Popov as the inaugural recipient of the new $15,000 Danish Artist Award for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi next year.

Sculpture by the Sea is pleased to announce Marina DeBris as the recipient of this year’s $30,000 Helen Lempriere Scholarship. DeBris’ artwork ‘Just a Drop in the Ocean’ will be created from objects washed up on Sydney beaches for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi next year.
